Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sangkeun) is gaining attention for its contributions to spreading an internal control culture.


On the 26th, BPA announced on the 29th that it had received a plaque of appreciation from the Korea Institute of Internal Control (President Moon Hoseung) in recognition of its contributions to advancing internal control and audit practices in the public sector.


The Korea Institute of Internal Control is a specialized research institution established to create and embed a systematic internal control system at an international level. The institute conducts research, education, consulting, and policy recommendations on the establishment, operation, and evaluation of internal control systems.


Busan Port Authority was recognized for ensuring that internal control and self-audit functions are not merely formalities, but rather serve as tools to enhance accountability and transparency throughout the organization.


In particular, BPA focused on expanding understanding and consensus on internal control across the organization by gathering on-site feedback and maintaining continuous communication with its members. It was highly praised for integrating these efforts into actual organizational operations, elevating internal control to a company-wide initiative, and establishing a system that enables autonomous and ongoing implementation.


The authority stated that it plans to further advance its internal control and audit systems, collaborate and communicate with professional organizations, and play a leading role in enhancing accountability and reliability across the public sector.


Song Sangkeun, President of Busan Port Authority, said, "This award is the result of our continuous efforts and practices to make internal control and audit core elements of our organizational culture," adding, "We will faithfully fulfill our public institution responsibilities through proactive risk management and transparent management."
