Worldwide Revenue Surpasses $760 Million
Director James Cameron's new film "Avatar: The Way of Fire" surpassed 4 million cumulative viewers just 12 days after its release. This is the fastest box office performance among this year's releases.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticket sales network on the 29th, "Avatar: The Way of Fire" attracted 1,053,502 viewers over the three-day weekend (December 26-28), maintaining its top position at the box office. The cumulative number of viewers reached 4,036,430.
On the 12th day of its release, December 28, the film surpassed the 4 million mark, setting the fastest record among films released this year. This is one day faster than the previous record held by "Zootopia 2" (13 days). Released on December 17, "Avatar: The Way of Fire" has now climbed to fifth place in this year's box office rankings.
According to Box Office Mojo, "Avatar: The Way of Fire" earned $98.7 million (approximately 142.6215 billion won) in North America from Christmas Eve through the weekend, securing the number one spot at the box office. Its worldwide box office revenue has reached a total of $760.39 million (approximately 1.0987 trillion won) so far.
The film depicts the crisis faced by the Sully family, who lost their eldest son Neteyam in the previous installment, as they encounter the "Ash Tribe" led by Baran. Set on the planet Pandora, now covered in fire and ash, the story unfolds on an even grander scale.
Meanwhile, during the same period, "Zootopia 2" ranked second at the box office with 449,786 viewers (cumulative 7,479,838). In third place was "Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight" (cumulative 365,416), followed by "Crayon Shin-chan: The Movie" (cumulative 277,766) in fourth place.
