Development of AI Ethics Curriculum with Dedicated Advisory Team
Pilot Program Conducted in November in Cooperation with Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education
On December 29, KT and the Ewha Womans University Future Education Research Institute announced that they will expand artificial intelligence (AI) competency education for teenagers.
KT and the Ewha Womans University Future Education Research Institute have newly developed an AI ethics curriculum. This curriculum systematically establishes the definition and core values of AI ethics, based on the advice of KT’s dedicated AI ethics policy and process team. It also includes experiential learning modules designed to help students reflect on the social impact of AI technology and to use AI proactively and responsibly.
Prior to the full-scale implementation of this expanded AI ethics education, KT conducted a pilot program in November in cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, targeting approximately 28 classes across 4 schools, to verify the effectiveness of the curriculum.
KT has been continuously pursuing social contribution activities to prevent the negative effects of the digital environment. Since 2022, in collaboration with the Ewha Womans University Future Education Research Institute, KT has provided "Visiting Digital Citizenship Education" to about 130,000 elementary and middle school students nationwide.
Oh Taesung, Head of ESG Management Promotion at KT, stated, "It is important to provide AI ethics education to help teenagers, who will be the future leaders of Korea, correctly understand and responsibly utilize AI." He added, "We will continue our efforts to bridge the digital divide and promote a culture of responsible digital usage."
