Emphasizing AI, Personalized, Safe, and Civic Education
Kim Seokjun, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, presented the policy direction for Busan education with a focus on human-centered future education in his 2026 New Year’s address.
Superintendent Kim announced the new year’s educational vision, stating, “Based on education where we learn together and nurture together, Busan citizens and the educational community will move forward toward the future with one heart.”
In his New Year’s address, Superintendent Kim said, “Just like a red horse (Jeokto-ma) running vigorously across a wide field with fiery energy, I hope that Busan education in the new year will leap forward with warm hope and new possibilities. We will actively promote education where students grow up healthy, teachers find fulfillment, and parents can feel reassured.”
Superintendent Kim defined 2026 as a turning point for the future of Busan education and presented four key tasks. These include human-centered future education that leads the AI era, personalized education that nurtures both academic achievement and emotional well-being, safe education that protects both students and teachers, and civic education that helps students grow into wise and talented individuals.
He emphasized, “We will realize education that goes beyond the delivery of knowledge, enabling children’s character and abilities to grow harmoniously. We will pursue educational policies to create schools that respect each student’s individuality and dreams, and classrooms where learning is joyful.”
He also revealed plans to strengthen the educational community through cooperation with the local community. The intention is to create a system where schools and the local community raise children together, thereby fostering an educational environment that students and parents can truly experience.
Superintendent Kim said, “Under the vision of ‘Together to the Future, Leading Busan Education,’ we will do our utmost to help children nurture their dreams and develop future competencies. I ask for the unwavering interest and support of citizens and the educational community as Busan education embarks on this new journey.”
