Gyeonggi Province supported the renovation of homes for 322 low-income households this year through the 'Haetsal Housing Project.'
The Haetsal Housing Project is a home renovation initiative aimed at reducing heating and electricity costs for low-income households. It targets households earning 50% or less of the median income and provides support such as airtight windows and doors, LED lighting, replacement of boilers and air conditioners, and reinforcement of wall insulation. Gyeonggi Province has been implementing this project since 2013.
Mr. A, who received support this year, said, "After the insulation work, the warmth inside my home is noticeably different from before, and my heating costs have decreased."
Ms. B expressed her gratitude, saying, "Until now, the boiler didn't work properly and the lights were broken, which was very inconvenient, but now I can live warmly and comfortably."
Kim Tae-su, Director of Housing Policy at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Old houses not only pose safety and daily life inconveniences, but also increase maintenance costs and utility bills such as electricity and gas. The Haetsal Housing Project has the dual effect of alleviating residential discomfort and reducing housing costs."
Since 2013, Gyeonggi Province has supported home renovations for a total of 4,052 households.
