Communication and Q&A with Citizens
"We Will Build a City Where People Stay"
The book launch event for Jeon Kyung-sun, a member of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea, Mokpo District 5), was held successfully on December 27 at Mokpo Gourmet Culture Gallery Haegwan 1897.
Despite the cold weather, citizens filled the venue, and Assemblyman Jeon explained the significance of the location, stating, "The future of a city is not built on new buildings, but on the time we have walked together."
Haegwan 1897 is a place that preserves the history and memories of Mokpo's port-opening era, and Assemblyman Jeon delivered a message of envisioning Mokpo's future together with its citizens at this meaningful site.

The event was attended by key figures, including Seo Sam-seok, Supreme Council Member of the Democratic Party of Korea; Shin Jung-hoon, Chair of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee; Kim Won-yi, Chair of the Jeonnam Provincial Party; and Kim Dae-jung, Superintendent of Jeonnam Education, who all offered their congratulations. In addition, former Jeonnam Provincial Party Chair Joo Cheol-hyeon, National Assembly member Seo Mihwa, and Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok participated via video messages.
The event was not just a book promotion, but a venue for communication with citizens. Before the main ceremony, Hwang Geum-chan, a student from Shaolin School, performed a saxophone piece that deeply moved the attendees.
This was followed by a collaborative performance of "Arirang Futurism," a modern reinterpretation of the classic, by traditional music prodigy Lim Sarang, percussionist Yoon Young-woong, and DJ Dean, which received an enthusiastic response. The performance, carrying the message "The roots of K-pop are in Mokpo," instilled pride in Mokpo's citizens.
The highlight of the book launch was a Q&A session with citizens. In response to sharp questions such as "What word comes to mind when you think of Jeon Kyung-sun?" and "What kind of city should Mokpo become?", Assemblyman Jeon replied, "Rather than being a fast person, I am someone who does not stop," pledging, "Especially for matters that affect citizens' lives, I will listen thoroughly and practice politics that takes responsibility to the end."
In particular, Assemblyman Jeon emphasized Mokpo's future, stating, "The greatest crisis facing Mokpo is not money, but people," and, "The city must be restructured around jobs that allow people to stay, so they do not leave."
The book he published contains his field-oriented approach to politics, his attitude of seeking answers alongside citizens, and his vision for "a city where people stay."
Assemblyman Jeon stressed that this book launch was not simply for promoting his book, but "an opportunity to make citizens' thoughts my standard," adding, "I will strive to be remembered as someone who stands by citizens before being a politician."
This event was a meaningful occasion to communicate directly with citizens in a historic space in Mokpo and to envision Mokpo's future together. It was evaluated as an event that clearly reflected Assemblyman Jeon's political vision and the aspirations of the citizens.
