The tuberculosis-free farm certification program grants certification to dairy farms where tuberculosis has not occurred in the past three years, after they pass two consecutive inspections at 60-day intervals and a rigorous evaluation of their quarantine status. Certified farms are exempt from tuberculosis inspections for two years and receive support for mastitis prevention drugs.
As of the end of 2025, a total of 44 farms in seven cities and counties within the province have completed certification. This achievement is the result of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province's proactive efforts to establish a foundation for eradicating bovine tuberculosis.
Seok Seonggyun, Director of the Agricultural Policy Bureau, stated, "With the implementation of the tuberculosis-free farm certification program, we have taken another step toward ensuring a safe supply of livestock products in the province." He added, "We will continue our efforts to make Gangwon a safe place for both people and animals, aiming to reach 50 certified farms by 2027."
