Focus on Breeding Environment, Grade, and Meat Quality

Emart announced on December 28 that it will launch three new Hanwoo beef brands-'The Cleaner Ranch Hanwoo,' 'Guwoo (9 Nine Cattle),' and 'Gyeolgoun Sunamso'-on January 1 of next year.

Among these, The Cleaner Ranch Hanwoo will be available at four stores (Pyeongchon, Jukjeon, Yongin, and Gyeonggi Gwangju branches); Guwoo will be offered at three stores (Yeoksam, Sokcho, and Gimpo Hangang branches); and Gyeolgoun Sunamso will be sold at three stores (Jeonju, Pyeongtaek, and Yeonsu branches). In total, the new brands will be introduced first at ten locations. Emart expects that the launch of these new Hanwoo brands, alongside its existing offerings, will provide customers with a broader range of choices.

Previously, Emart conducted a customer awareness and preference survey on Hanwoo brands through its own application and other channels, targeting over 5,300 participants. Of the respondents, 34% selected Hanwoo raised on clean, local farms as the "most preferred Hanwoo brand," followed by high-grade Hanwoo at 29.4%. When asked about dissatisfaction with Hanwoo, 50% cited meat quality as the main reason. Based on these results, Emart prioritized breeding environment, grade, and meat quality in selecting its new Hanwoo brands.

The Cleaner Ranch Hanwoo is beef raised on farms certified as 'Clean Farms' by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Guwoo intuitively represents No.9 top-grade Hanwoo. Gyeolgoun Sunamso refers to heifers that have never given birth. The company explained that these cows, which have no calving history, are selected for their exceptionally tender meat quality.

The ten stores introducing the new brands will also hold special launch events. From January 1 to 4, customers can purchase sirloin with a 1++(9) grade at a 50% discount-down from the regular price of 21,380 won to 10,690 won when paying with an event card. Additionally, 100 grams of round and chuck cuts with a 1+ grade will be discounted from 7,480 won to 4,188 won.

Shim Changwoo, Emart's Hanwoo buyer, stated, "Based on customer research, we have sought out Hanwoo that delivers the value our customers want and developed brands that make it easy to experience and choose. We will continue to introduce a variety of Hanwoo products from the customer's perspective."
