"They Were Close Brothers"...Tragic Death of Siblings in Late-Night Apartment Fire Daejeon Fire Headquarters Seobu Fire Station. Yonhap News.

According to the Daejeon Fire Headquarters and the police on December 27, at approximately 12:32 a.m. that day, a fire of unknown origin broke out in the apartment of Mr. A (in his 20s) on the seventh floor of an apartment building in Dong-gu, Daejeon. Firefighters responded to the emergency call, deploying personnel and equipment, and managed to extinguish the blaze in about 20 minutes. However, there were multiple casualties at the scene.

Mr. A, the younger brother and owner of the apartment, was found near the apartment entrance in a state of cardiac arrest. He was rushed to the hospital but ultimately passed away. The tragedy did not end there. While investigating the scene, police also found Mr. B (in his 30s), A's older brother, dead on the ground at the entrance of the apartment building.

The police believe that Mr. B, who was staying at his younger brother's home at the time of the fire, may have fallen from the veranda while trying to escape the rapidly spreading flames and smoke. It was found that the two brothers lived in the same apartment complex and were so close that they frequently visited each other's homes, making the incident even more heartbreaking for those around them.

The fire is believed to have started in the living room of the residence, burning about 40 cubic meters inside the apartment and household goods, resulting in an estimated property loss of 11 million won, according to the fire department. The police and fire authorities plan to conduct a joint investigation with the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of the fire. They are also investigating the precise circumstances of the accident, including performing autopsies to confirm the exact causes of death for the deceased brothers.
