Department of Physical Therapy Directly Operates Community Health Programs through RISE Project
The Department of Physical Therapy at Mokpo Science University is gaining attention for operating a "Living Lab" that directly connects the university's expertise to solving local community issues.
On December 27, Mokpo Science University announced that it has established a field-oriented problem-solving platform through the Regional Innovation-led University Support System (RISE) project, enabling local residents, municipal governments, and related organizations to participate together.

The "Living Lab" is a practical research and education model operated by Professor Kang Yanghoon of the Department of Physical Therapy. It aims to collaboratively seek practical solutions needed by the local community, leveraging the department's specialized capabilities.
Through this initiative, the Department of Physical Therapy is promoting several programs, including: ▲ a chair disease prevention program ▲ a region-specific health management program ▲ community-participatory rehabilitation and exercise programs ▲ and on-site field training for students. Students gain real-world problem-solving experience in the local community, while the community benefits from the university's professional human resources, creating a mutually beneficial structure.
Professor Kang Yanghoon stated, "The RISE project marks an important turning point, enabling the university to serve as a key agent in solving local issues," adding, "We will continue to expand practical research and education that reflect the actual needs of local residents through the Living Lab."
Mokpo Science University plans to further strengthen its education and research models that grow alongside the local community based on the RISE project, and will continue to implement various programs that contribute to regional innovation.
