One First Prize Ticket, Four Second Prize Tickets... Total Winnings Exceed 2.1 Billion Won
Plans to Use Prize Money for Child's Education and Retirement Funds
A lottery buyer who had to settle for seventh prize in the previous round with a number similar to the first prize has now achieved a miraculous feat by winning both the first and second prizes in the next round of the Lottery Pension.
According to Donghaeng Lottery on December 24, a customer identified as A, who purchased the 294th Lottery Pension ticket at a retailer in Gongheung-ri, Yangpyeong-eup, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, won both one first prize ticket and four second prize tickets at the same time.
A said, "I regularly buy Lotto and Lottery Pension tickets in small amounts once a week," adding, "In the previous round, I had a number similar to the first prize but only won seventh prize, so I bought the 294th Lottery Pension ticket with a bit of disappointment."
He continued, "A few days later, while checking the results at home using a QR code, I found out I had won second prize. Then I remembered that with Lottery Pension, if you buy a set, you can win multiple prizes at once. So I checked the rest of my tickets and discovered I had won both first and second prizes simultaneously," he recalled.
A shared, "My spouse and I comforted each other, saying, 'We've worked so hard until now,' and we were overjoyed at the thought that we could finally live happily. We married later in life and have a daughter born in 2019, the Year of the Golden Pig. We believe she is our lucky charm who brought us this fortune."
Regarding plans for the prize money, A stated, "I plan to use the winnings to pay off loans and for my child's education and our retirement funds."
To win first prize in the Lottery Pension 720+, you must match both the set number and all six digits. First prize winners receive 7 million won per month for 20 years, while second prize winners receive 1 million won per month for 10 years. With both first and second prizes, A will receive a total of more than 2.1 billion won in annuity payments over the next 20 years.
