An incident has occurred in which the employee numbers and other personal information of Shinsegae Group employees were leaked.
On December 26, Shinsegae I&C announced that it had identified signs of information leakage involving employees and some partner company staff through the group's internal intranet system.
It has been confirmed so far that the leaked information includes the employee numbers of approximately 80,000 people, as well as some of their names, affiliated departments, and IP addresses.
The company stated that no customer information was leaked.
Shinsegae I&C said, "Immediately upon recognizing the incident, we conducted an emergency inspection and blocked access to the relevant systems and accounts. We also reported the matter to the authorities and plan to investigate the exact cause and scope of the incident going forward."
Additionally, Shinsegae I&C notified employees of the incident through an internal announcement, urging them to change their business system account passwords and to be especially cautious of suspicious emails.
The company added, "We will actively cooperate with the authorities' investigation and plan to further strengthen our security management system."
