The signing ceremony was attended by Jeonbuk Governor Kim Kwan-young, Gimje Mayor Jeong Seongju, and Best Western Plus Gimje Hotel CEO Kim Haeyoung, who pledged mutual cooperation and the successful implementation of the project.
This project will invest a total of 36.5 billion won to build a three-star hotel with one basement floor and seven above-ground floors on a 9,164-square-meter site designated for accommodation facilities within the Gimje Hot Spring Tourist Area in Sangdong-dong, Gimje City. The hotel is scheduled to open in March 2028 and will have a total of 101 rooms.
The hotel will be equipped with a variety of amenities, including banquet halls, a swimming pool, a fitness center, and a cafe, in addition to guest rooms. This will provide accommodation and convenience infrastructure capable of hosting large-scale events and group visitors.
Under the agreement, Jeonbuk Province and Gimje City will support administrative procedures and provide investment subsidies in accordance with relevant ordinances. Best Western Plus Gimje Hotel will be responsible for carrying out the project and constructing the hotel according to the investment plan.
The province expects that this agreement will expand the tourism infrastructure for extended stays in the Gimje Hot Spring District and strengthen the region's capacity to stably host international events and large-scale gatherings. It is also anticipated to have a positive ripple effect on revitalizing the local economy and creating quality jobs.
Kim Kwan-young, Governor of Jeonbuk Province, stated, "This agreement marks the first step in turning the potential of the Gimje Hot Spring District into reality," adding, "Jeonbuk Province, Gimje City, and Best Western Plus Gimje Hotel will join forces to lay the foundation for the mutual growth of the local economy and tourism."
