Buan County Announces 'Top 12 Policies' of the 8th Administration... A Milestone Indicating Future Direction

This selection focused on objectively and externally verified achievements, such as national firsts, onlys, and provincial bests, providing a concise overview of the direction of change and policy philosophy that Buan County Office has pursued during the 8th administration.

The key policies include: opening the era of the highest-ever national budget for the county, surpassing 600 billion won for the first time; implementing the nation's first half-price tuition for all university students in all grades and semesters; designation as the nation's first coastal-type UNESCO Global Geopark; creation of the nation's first hydrogen city in a rural county; ranking first in North Jeolla Province for the number of residents staying in areas with declining populations; and being the only county in the province to be selected as an excellent institution for proactive administration for four consecutive years.

These achievements are evaluated as the result of pursuing balanced policies that residents can feel and that prepare for the future across education, welfare, environment, energy, and administration, despite difficult conditions such as population decline, the risk of regional extinction, and fiscal constraints during the 8th administration.

In particular, by proactively identifying new policy areas and engaging in proactive administration, the county has boldly challenged domains that are difficult for counties to attempt, setting new standards and symbolically demonstrating Buan's leap forward as a small but strong local government.

The county plans to use this as a turning point to calmly review its governance so far, prepare for greater progress, expand the depth and breadth of policies that residents can experience, and accelerate county administration in connection with mid- to long-term future strategies.

A county official stated, "The Top 12 Firsts and Best Policies of Buan serve as both a record of the 8th administration's journey and a clear signpost for the future direction," adding, "We will steadily build Buan's future through policies that are realized in the lives of our residents."
