Safety Inspections Conducted on Toilet Paper, Diapers, Cotton Swabs, and More
Everyday hygiene products such as masks, sanitary pads, and wet wipes have passed stringent inspection standards.
The Ulsan Health and Environment Research Institute announced that, after conducting safety tests on about 100 hygiene products this year, all products were found to meet the required standards and specifications.
This inspection was carried out to strengthen the safety of hygiene products frequently used by citizens.
In cooperation with the hygiene departments of Ulsan City and its districts, the inspection focused on items closely related to daily life, such as disposable cups, cotton swabs, toilet paper, and diapers, which are distributed in large supermarkets and similar outlets.
The inspection examined, in detail by product type, ▲ the presence of harmful substances ▲ compliance with quality standards ▲ appropriateness of labeling and other relevant factors.
The results showed that all products met the standards, with no cases of non-compliance detected.
The institute also conducted intensive inspections of items with a previous history of non-compliance, but all of these products were also found to be in compliance. This is analyzed as a result of improved management throughout the manufacturing and distribution stages.
Going forward, the institute plans to further strengthen its monitoring system to respond to the increasing use of hygiene products through online platforms, and will do its utmost to create a distribution environment where citizens can use hygiene products with confidence.
Lee Yoonju, a health researcher at the Ulsan Health and Environment Research Institute, was selected as a recipient of the Minister of Food and Drug Safety's commendation in recognition of her contributions to hygiene product safety management in 2025.
