Public Schools Select 1.5 Times the Number of Positions
Second Round of Exams Begins January 14
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on its official website at 10 a.m. on December 26 the results of the first round of the '2026 Secondary School Teacher Recruitment Competitive Examination' for public and private schools, with 1,119 candidates passing. This announcement includes teachers in the fields of health, librarianship, specialized counseling, nutrition, and special education (secondary).
For public schools, candidates were selected at a ratio of 1.5 times the planned number of recruits per subject, with all candidates who tied in scores being accepted. In the general category, 834 candidates passed the first round for 545 positions, while in the category for people with disabilities, 7 candidates passed for 45 positions.
Among the 41 private school corporations that entrusted the exam to the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, 278 candidates were selected for 109 positions. Of these, 71 candidates passed both the public and private school recruitment processes simultaneously. Depending on the type of consignment, private school corporations applied different selection ratios: 1.5 times for full consignment, and 3 to 5 times for partial consignment in the first and second rounds.
The second round of the examination will begin on January 14 at the Busan Student Education and Culture Center, Busan Physical Education High School, and Busan Technical High School, starting with practical tests. Six subjects are included: music, art, physical education, electronics, machinery, and computer science. Due to the large number of applicants, the physical education subject will be held over two days, until January 15.
On January 20 and 21, the second round will continue at Busan Electronic Technical High School, Yeomyung Middle School, Busanjin Girls' Commercial High School, and Gyeongnam Technical High School, with tasks including preparation of teaching and learning plans, demonstration lessons, and in-depth interviews on teaching aptitude. Private school corporations that entrusted both rounds of the exam to the Office of Education will participate in the tests administered by the Office, while 26 corporations that entrusted only the first round will conduct their own second-round exams.
The final results for public schools will be announced on February 5 on the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education website, while private school results will be individually notified by each school corporation. Further details can be found in the 'Notices and Announcements' section of the Office's website.
