Mithril Blocks Major Industrial Accidents in Advance with Vision AI... Expands into Overseas Markets Jung Hyun Cho, CEO of Mithril

Mithril, a vision AI solution company, is accelerating its expansion into overseas markets with its artificial intelligence monitoring technology designed to prevent major industrial accidents in advance.

The company’s strategy of shifting the traditional industrial safety management system-which focused on post-incident response-to a model centered on proactive prevention is being recognized as a key driver of its growth.

According to a report by The Asia Business Daily on December 26, Mithril’s vision AI technology analyzes video data in real time to automatically detect risk factors at worksites.

Unlike the conventional method, where managers continuously monitored multiple CCTV screens, the system analyzes the work environment around the clock and immediately detects signs of danger. This approach reduces dependence on human resources while structurally lowering the possibility of accidents.

Mithril’s AI monitoring solution, Guardian-Alpha, features a lightweight AI engine that can operate even in low-spec GPU environments.

In addition, by integrating explainable AI (XAI), it visualizes workplace risk levels and detects, in real time, issues such as failure to wear safety gear, unauthorized entry into hazardous areas, worker collapse, and signs of fire. The solution is also equipped with a function to predict the likelihood of accidents based on accumulated data.

The company’s technological competitiveness is receiving strong responses in overseas markets. Mithril recently signed an export contract with Indonesia and, through a global expansion program by a university-based startup support initiative, entered into a vision AI collaboration agreement with a major Malaysian corporation.

The company stated that global demand for vision AI is rapidly increasing, particularly in the fields of smart cities, industrial safety, and defense.

Domestically, support from Hoseo University’s university-based startup support program has served as a foundation for the company’s growth. From the initial startup incubation stage, Mithril enhanced its technological completeness through verification and commercialization connections, which in turn enabled market validation and the development of sales channels.

As a result, Mithril has secured a cumulative 4 billion won (approximately 3 million US dollars) in Pre-A investment from the private investment market. The company aims to attract Series-A investment in the first half of next year, with plans to use the funds for advancing its core AI technologies and securing top talent.

The workforce is also being reorganized to focus on research and development. Currently, about 70% of the company’s employees are engaged in R&D, and there are plans to double this proportion by 2026.

In particular, Mithril is expanding its business areas into manufacturing process optimization, security, and defense, led by master’s and doctoral-level personnel researching foundation models and physical AI.

Industry experts believe that if Mithril’s accumulated technology and data in the field of industrial safety are successfully applied to manufacturing, security, and defense, the company’s foundation for mid- to long-term growth will become even more robust.
