Presidential spokesperson Kim Namjun announced in a written briefing that President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung attended the Christmas service at Haein Church in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, on the 25th, which was President Lee’s former constituency during his time as a National Assembly member.
President Lee arrived at the church with his wife, Kim Hye-kyung, and had a conversation with Pastor Lee Junmo and his wife, Pastor Kim Youngsun. He expressed his gratitude, saying, "I am thankful to exchange Christmas greetings here at a church that truly embodies the spirit of Christ, just as Jesus came to the humblest places."
In response, the two pastors said to President Lee, "Just as baby Jesus came to a lowly and humble place, we believe you can be a president who embraces the most vulnerable in our society."

According to spokesperson Kim, Haein Church was founded in 1986 by workers who pooled their money, starting as a church for the people. It is engaged in community projects such as shelters for the homeless and has a large number of members from marginalized groups, including the homeless and victims of domestic violence.
Spokesperson Kim explained that attending the service was intended to reflect on the original meaning of Christmas, deliver a message of comfort and hope to all citizens beyond religious boundaries, and reaffirm the value of social integration.
Afterward, President Lee visited the nearby Notre Dame Convent to exchange Christmas greetings with the nuns.
The Notre Dame Convent in Gyeyang-gu operates welfare and educational facilities for people with disabilities, supporting the rehabilitation and independence of marginalized groups.
