Pangyo Techno Valley Workforce Reaches 83,000, Up by Over 4,500 From Last Year

This year, there are a total of 1,780 companies located in the 1st and 2nd Pangyo Techno Valleys, with approximately 83,000 employees.

According to Gyeonggi Province's "2025 Pangyo Techno Valley Survey Results," the number of resident companies stands at 1,780, a decrease of 23 companies (about 1%) compared to the previous year. This temporary decrease is attributed to some anchor companies that initially moved into the 1st Pangyo relocating to new headquarters buildings upon their completion.

The 1st Pangyo currently hosts 1,196 companies, a 4% decrease from the previous year, while the 2nd Pangyo has 584 companies, representing a 4% increase.

By industry, information technology (IT) accounts for the largest share at 61.5%. This is followed by biotechnology (BT) and cultural technology (CT), each making up 11%.

By company size, small and medium-sized enterprises account for a high proportion at 85%. Mid-sized companies make up 9.3%, and large corporations account for 3.7%.

Despite the decrease in the number of companies, the total number of employees increased by 4,593 (about 6%) to 83,465, compared to 78,872 in the previous year. This steady growth in employment is attributed to the ongoing influx of companies into the 2nd Pangyo.

Among employees, those in their 20s and 30s comprise 60%. The average age of all employees is 37.9 years. Researchers account for 31% of the workforce, and women make up 29%.

When asked about necessary policy measures to vitalize the 2nd Pangyo Techno Valley (on a 5-point scale), "improving public transportation accessibility" received the highest score at 4.56.

Jung Hangyu, Director of the Advanced Mobility Industry Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "In 2025, Pangyo Techno Valley has broadened its growth trajectory thanks to the expansion of companies moving into the 2nd Pangyo and the increased demand for research and development. We will continue to provide the necessary administrative support to ensure that the 1st and 2nd Pangyo Techno Valleys are established as key hubs leading Korea's digital industry, by cooperating with relevant organizations to implement effective transportation measures and improve the business environment."
