Gyeongsan Seobu Police Precinct and Voluntary Crime Prevention Unit Lead Year-End Joint Patrols for Community Policing

Focused Patrols in Oksan Commercial Areas and Crime-Prone Zones
"Building a Meticulous Safety Network Residents Can Truly Feel"

The Seobu Police Precinct of the Gyeongsan Police Station has launched a large-scale joint patrol with local residents to maintain public safety during the year-end and New Year season.

The Seobu Police Precinct of the Gyeongsan Police Station, led by Chief Kim Jaeyeon, announced that on the evening of December 23, it conducted a "Special Year-End and New Year Joint Patrol" together with the voluntary crime prevention unit in the areas of Oksan Neighborhood Park and Oksan District 2.

Approximately 70 people participated in the patrol, including officers from the Seobu Police Precinct and 65 members of seven voluntary crime prevention units from the local community.

Despite the biting winter wind and rainy weather, participants carried out crime prevention activities, starting from Oksan Neighborhood Park and covering every corner of the alleyways in the commercial area of Oksan District 2.

This joint patrol was organized to strengthen "visible policing" in areas crowded with people during the year-end and New Year period, as well as in regions vulnerable to crime.

In particular, it is being recognized as an exemplary case of "community policing," where police officers and local residents communicate directly and identify potential risks in their neighborhoods.

A local resident, Ms. A (in her 60s), whom we met on site, expressed her gratitude, saying, "I was quite worried because the atmosphere gets unsettled at the end of the year, but I feel reassured now that police officers and crime prevention volunteers are patrolling right in front of my house."

Chief Kim Jaeyeon of the Seobu Police Precinct stated, "I sincerely thank the voluntary crime prevention members who participated on their own initiative despite their busy schedules and the cold weather," and emphasized, "We will continue to do our utmost to prevent crime through meticulous crime prevention activities that residents can truly feel."

Meanwhile, starting with this joint patrol, the Seobu Police Precinct plans to further strengthen patrols in areas with frequent reports and densely populated locations during the special crime prevention period.

In addition, the precinct will maintain a close cooperative system with the voluntary crime prevention units and accelerate efforts to establish a "seamless local safety network."
