Jeonnam National University Hospital announced on the 25th that it was selected as the top institution for public health care implementation at the "2025 Public Health Care Performance Report" hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award.
Jeonnam National University Hospital achieved a comprehensive score of 92.1 points in the evaluation of the "2024 Public Health Care Plan Implementation Results," earning the highest grade (over 90 points). This is the highest performance in the past three years of evaluations, with the hospital having been rated "Excellent" in both 2022 and 2023, and now being recognized as the "Best" institution in 2024.
The evaluation was divided into qualitative assessments (linkage and cooperation with higher-level plans, project execution and performance, project monitoring and results) and quantitative assessments (implementation system, clinical competency, inclusive medical support). Jeonnam National University Hospital demonstrated balanced excellence across all areas of both qualitative and quantitative assessments, recording scores above the average for advanced general hospitals.
In particular, the hospital received high marks for systematically strengthening essential regional medical capabilities, such as establishing a safety net for severe emergency patients and major trauma, responding to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, operating an integrated treatment center for high-risk mothers and newborns, and enhancing public medical services for children. Additionally, through the establishment of a cooperative system among responsible medical institutions, the hospital has expanded connections and cooperation among regional medical institutions, thereby solidifying the foundation for essential public health care collaboration.
Furthermore, the operation of specialized centers such as the Regional Mental Health Welfare Center, Regional Health Care Center for the Disabled, Atopy and Asthma Education Information Center, and Rare Disease Regional Base Center enabled comprehensive support for medically vulnerable groups including people with disabilities, the elderly, and children, which was also recognized as a major achievement. In addition, the hospital achieved outstanding results in overall public health care capabilities, including the operation of the safety and health management system (KOSHA-MS), the establishment of a next-generation integrated hospital information system, and the strengthening of medical data and digital health infrastructure.
The evaluation panel commented, "There is strong alignment with the higher-level public health care master plan, and both internal and external cooperative systems are systematically established. Most of the various public health care projects are being faithfully implemented, resulting in exemplary outcomes."
Kim Kwangseok, Deputy Director for Public Health at Jeonnam National University Hospital, stated, "Winning the Minister of Health and Welfare Award is a valuable achievement made possible by the collective efforts of all hospital members, not only in essential medical fields, but also in establishing a maternal and child health care delivery system, supporting vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities and the elderly, responding to infectious diseases, and managing health and safety. We will continue to faithfully fulfill our role as a reliable public health care safety net that protects the health of local residents."
