Sangroksu Apartment to Be Reborn as a 1,126-Unit Complex
Garam Apartment Also to Be Developed into 818 Units
Sangroksu Apartment in Irwon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, will be reborn through a fast-track integrated planning process as a residential complex with up to 25 floors and 1,126 units. The nearby Garam Apartment will also be transformed into a residential complex with up to 25 floors and 818 units, following the approval of its maintenance plan.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 25th that at the 14th Urban Planning Committee’s Subcommittee, the reconstruction maintenance plan for Sangroksu Apartment in Irwon-dong was approved with modifications. The reconstruction maintenance plan for Garam Apartment in Irwon-dong was also approved with modifications during this committee meeting.
Sangroksu Apartment is an aging complex completed in 1993. Through this maintenance plan, its zoning will be changed from a Type 2 General Residential Area (up to 7 floors) to a Type 2 General Residential Area, and it will be developed into a residential complex with up to 25 floors and 1,126 apartment units, including 74 rental units.
Sangroksu Apartment passed the Urban Planning Committee’s review just seven months after applying for fast-track planning consultation in May.
As a public contribution facility, a public postpartum care center with a total floor area of about 2,000 square meters (12 rooms) will be established. The public postpartum care center is an open facility that allows any citizen to use postpartum care services at an affordable cost, as part of the city’s low birth rate countermeasures.
Additionally, a neighborhood park will be created on the western side of the site, forming a green axis connected to the Daemosan Mountain hiking trail. A pocket park will also be built at the intersection near Irwon Station, a major pedestrian node.
Garam Apartment was also completed in 1993, the same year as Sangroksu Apartment. With this maintenance plan, its zoning will be changed from a Type 2 General Residential Area (up to 7 floors) to a Type 2 General Residential Area. The complex will be developed into a residential complex with up to 25 floors and 818 apartment units, including 61 rental units.
Through this project, an escalator for local residents will be installed at Exit 5 of Irwon Station on Subway Line 3, and a connecting passage will be built within the complex. Community facilities and care centers will be placed along Gwangpyeong-ro and Irwon-ro, making the complex accessible and open to external residents.
In addition, a Kids Land with a total floor area of about 3,000 square meters will be established. Kids Land will operate as a convergent experience center where children from the local community and the general public can experience various professions such as doctor, police officer, and firefighter.
Sangroksu Apartment and Garam Apartment are the first among the nine reconstruction complexes within the Suseo Housing Development District’s district unit planning area to have their maintenance plans approved. The city plans to promptly finalize the architectural plans through integrated review, reflecting the results of this committee.
