Jongbo Park, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, visited the 'Hongdae Tourist District' in Mapo-gu, Seoul, on December 24 to inspect potential safety hazards and crime-prone areas.
On this day, Commissioner Park conducted a joint patrol of the tourist district together with Wanki Kim, Chief of Mapo Police Station, the Mobile Patrol Unit, Seunggyo Heo, President of the Seoul City Volunteer Crime Prevention Association, Jaekyung Lee, Head of the Mapo-gu Volunteer Crime Prevention Association, and other members of the volunteer patrol team.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has strengthened preventive patrols and deployed mobile patrol units in 34 major locations, including key tourist attractions and festival venues where large crowds gather. In addition, some members of the police mobile unit, who previously focused on managing assemblies and demonstrations, have also been assigned to frontline public safety operations.
Commissioner Park stated, "We will mobilize all available resources to create a safe environment where citizens can feel secure, ensuring that the excitement of the year-end and New Year season does not turn into anxiety."
