Seoul Police Chief Inspects Safety at 'Hongdae Tourist District' Ahead of Christmas

On December 24, Jongbo Park, Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, visited the "Hongdae Tourist District" in Mapo-gu, Seoul, to inspect safety hazards and crime vulnerabilities.

Commissioner Park conducted a joint patrol of the tourist district area together with Wan-gi Kim, Chief of the Mapo Police Station, the mobile patrol unit, Seunggyo Heo, President of the Seoul Volunteer Patrol Association, Jaekyung Lee, Head of the Mapo Volunteer Patrol, and other members of the volunteer patrol team.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has strengthened preventive patrols and deployed mobile patrol units at 34 major locations, including popular tourist attractions and festival sites with large crowds. Additionally, some members of the police mobile unit, who previously focused on managing rallies and demonstrations, have been assigned to public safety operations.

Commissioner Park stated, "We will mobilize all available personnel to create a safe environment where citizens can feel secure, so that the excitement of the year-end and New Year season does not turn into anxiety."
