Yeonggwang County Selected as Excellent City and County for Job Creation in South Jeolla Province

On December 24, Yeonggwang County in South Jeolla Province received the Encouragement Award in the 2025 Jeollanam-do Excellent Job Creation City and County Evaluation at the 'Jeollanam-do Job and Economy Grand Festival' held at the Expo Convention Center in Yeosu City.

South Jeolla Province evaluated the performance of its 22 cities and counties across 19 items in 6 categories, including employment indicators, job budget growth rate, youth employment, employment for the new middle-aged, and support for jobs for vulnerable groups, selecting cities and counties that contributed to job creation.

Yeonggwang County was selected as an excellent county for the second consecutive year, achieving the remarkable feat of receiving an institutional commendation for four consecutive years.

Over the past year, Yeonggwang County implemented pioneering job policies to prevent youth outflow, including region-led youth job projects, the Jeonnam Youth Retention Incentive Program, and the Yeonggwang-type Youth Job Incentive Program. As a result, the youth employment rate (ages 15-29) reached 37.2%, marking a 9.74 percentage point increase from the previous year.

Additionally, through the Yeonggwang-type K-Drone Job Creation Project and operation of caregiver certification programs and other vocational training courses for local unemployed residents, all participants obtained certifications, reducing the unemployment rate to 1.1%.

The 'Job Dodream Employment Linkage Support Project' received high praise for creating customized jobs by facilitating job matching between companies and job seekers through events such as Job-Seeker Meet-and-Greet Days and providing labor, tax, and accounting consulting to local businesses.

A county official stated, "Even in these difficult times of economic downturn and ongoing employment crisis, we are very proud to have achieved tangible results by receiving an institutional commendation for four consecutive years in the Jeollanam-do Excellent Job Creation City and County Evaluation."
