"Even when people decided to use digital business cards, the production process often became lengthy. I realized that delays in creating the cards themselves were becoming a burden for users," she said.

This is the insight Sumin Lee, CEO of Creatornomic, gained after running the digital business card service 'Slice' for three years. She noticed that while users had the intention to switch to digital business cards, they often became easily fatigued during the process of selecting designs and wording. She saw these inconveniences as obstacles to the widespread adoption of digital business cards and decided to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) to significantly reduce the time required for card creation.

On December 28, Lee said, "While traditional business card apps are designed to store and manage paper cards, Slice starts the entire process of business card creation in a digital environment," adding, "It automatically recommends card designs based on your job, company profile, and preferred style."

Launched in 2023, Slice offers both a digital business card app and NFC cards. When you tap a plastic card equipped with NFC functionality against a smartphone, the pre-made digital business card is transmitted instantly. Even if the recipient does not have a dedicated app installed, they can save your contact information directly. Unlike paper business cards, which can only contain basic details such as name, affiliation, and contact information, digital cards can include career history, portfolios, social networking service (SNS) links, and more as needed. Another advantage is that, unlike paper cards, there is no need to reprint them every time you run out.

Thanks to these advantages, the number of users is rapidly increasing, especially among professionals who frequently use business cards. Among individual users, a large proportion are freelancers and sole proprietors who are responsible for everything from creating to managing their own cards. In companies, the service is mainly being adopted by employees whose roles involve frequent external interactions.

User satisfaction has increased even further since the introduction of AI into the business card creation process. Previously, users of digital business card services had to decide on the design, layout, and wording from scratch, but now, simply entering job information allows AI to automatically generate an introductory text. Lee explained, "Rather than building from zero to one, AI gets you to about 0.9, and the user just needs to finalize it. This even includes information you might not have thought to add, making a positive impression at first glance."

Lee plans to develop Slice beyond a simple business card service into a comprehensive solution for business network management. She is also considering overseas expansion, with a strategy to target the North American market first by highlighting the unique AI-driven business card creation feature. She said, "We plan to enhance the entire process of making a first impression, saving and managing contacts, and building ongoing business relationships-all within a digital environment."
