Busan National University Introduces "Academic Advisor Consultation AI Assistant" to Enhance Both Quality and Efficiency of Consultations

First National University to Pilot Academic Advisor Support Using Sanjini AI

Busan National University is continuing its AI-driven educational innovation by developing and providing the "Academic Advisor Consultation AI Assistant" based on its self-built and operated AI service platform, "Sanjini AI." This initiative aims to simultaneously enhance the quality and efficiency of academic advisor consultations.

The Information Technology Headquarters of Busan National University (President Choi Jaewon) announced on the 24th that, as part of the "PNU AX Transformation Project," it has become the first national university to pilot the "Academic Advisor Consultation AI Assistant," which was launched on the 22nd. The service is available for faculty members participating in the university's academic advisor consultation system.

The "Academic Advisor Consultation AI Assistant" is designed to support personalized student consultations, assisting faculty throughout the entire process-from preparation to post-consultation summary-using AI. During the preparation phase, the AI automatically analyzes and provides a summary of the student's grades, a summary of previous consultations, suggestions for the direction of the consultation, and employment-related reference information. This enables faculty members to conduct more systematic and in-depth consultations.

After the consultation, the "Consultation Result Draft Assistant" feature automatically generates a draft of the consultation summary based on the discussion. Faculty can then review and supplement this draft, allowing them to organize consultation outcomes quickly and consistently, reducing administrative workload and improving the quality of the consultations.

Busan National University has further strengthened its privacy and security systems in consideration of the sensitive information that may be handled during academic advisor consultations. The service operates exclusively within the PNU AI platform based on "Sanjini AI," not in external environments, and access rights are strictly controlled. Additionally, the university has established a secure usage framework by applying a policy that prohibits storing or using information generated during service operation for AI training purposes.

Choi Yunho, Director of the Information Technology Headquarters at Busan National University (Professor of Computer Science and Engineering), who oversaw the project, stated, "In this application, AI is not a technology that replaces people, but rather a tool that supports deeper communication between faculty and students. Based on the university's public mission and responsibility, we will lead the AI transformation in education by promoting a safe AI utilization model that prioritizes privacy and ethics."

Starting with the introduction of this AI consultation support, Busan National University plans to sequentially implement AI-based personalized curricular and extracurricular recommendation services for students, establish an AI-based academic administration system agent, build an AI-based learning management system (LMS), and further advance the PNU AI platform. Through these efforts, the university aims to continuously expand its unique AI-driven educational information service model.
