Jeonju University Successfully Concludes "HowWow Future Camp Performance Report Meeting" Jeonju University successfully concluded the "2025 HowWow Future Camp Performance Report Meeting" at Onnuri Hall on the 23rd.

According to Jeonju University on the 24th, the HowWow Future Camp is the only local government-led, science and technology-focused mentor-mentee program in the country, with North Jeolla Province providing policy and project funding and Jeonju University serving as the main organizer. Since last year, it has been operated as a North Jeolla Province-specific future talent development model, with ten key local institutions participating.

Currently, the camp involves 43 mentors selected from the fields of science and technology, industry, research, and public service, as well as 81 outstanding mentees from universities within the province. The mentoring focuses on North Jeolla’s strategic and future growth industries, including advanced industries and digital, energy and mobility, agricultural life and bio, and local content. The program has fostered practical, region-based talent through one-on-one and group mentoring, special lectures, and field exchange programs.

According to the employment and academic progress check results for the first cohort announced at the performance report meeting, 7 out of 9 mentees (about 78%) either found employment in positions related to their majors or the camp’s focus areas, or advanced to graduate school. This demonstrates that mentoring has helped mentees clarify their career paths and achieve tangible results linking their majors to future occupations.

Additionally, many first cohort mentees successfully entered graduate schools in the North Jeolla region or secured jobs at local companies, including Jeonbuk City Gas, confirming that the program helps reduce the outflow of local talent and strengthens the foundation for young people to settle in the region.

At the performance report meeting, based on these achievements, outstanding mentees from the second cohort shared their success stories. An awards ceremony was also held to recognize mentees who actively participated and achieved excellent results, with prizes including the Governor's Award, the University President's Award, and the Collaboration Institution Head's Award.

Ha Haewon, head of the HowWow Future Camp project group, stated, "The HowWow Future Camp is a Jeonbuk-style talent development model that connects young people’s career concerns to concrete outcomes in employment and further study. Under the vision of 'With the Power of Jeonbuk,' we will continue to develop this as a North Jeolla Province-specific, science and technology-focused future talent development platform that simultaneously supports the growth of young talent and their settlement in the region."
