Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on December 24 that it has completed the procedures for the designation of special maintenance zones and the approval of special maintenance plans for two leading districts in Gunpo Sanbon (Districts 9-2 and 11). This is the first time such procedures have been completed among the leading districts of the first-generation new towns and aging planned cities.
This process was completed just six months after LH was designated as the preliminary project implementer in June of this year. Typically, it takes about three years. According to the special maintenance plan, the leading districts will receive additional incentives, allowing the floor area ratio to be relaxed up to 360%. District 9-2 will be redeveloped into 3,376 households, and District 11 into 3,892 households.
After initiating the project implementer designation process, LH plans to work closely with the residents' representative council to expedite procedures such as the selection of construction companies and the integrated review for project implementation approval. Kang Osun, Head of the Regional Balance Division at LH, stated, "This is an example that demonstrates the expertise and speed of LH's public implementation method. We will prioritize our promises to the residents as we move forward with the project."
