Three Teams Win Minister of Education Award, Three Teams Win President of KOFAC Award
Six Teams Achieve Outstanding Results
Demonstrating Competitiveness in Convergence and Creative Education
Daejeon Education has demonstrated its competitiveness in convergence and creative education, with six teams winning awards in the 2025 Convergence Research Project (STEAM Club).
The Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education achieved the highest number of awards nationwide in the '2025 Convergence Research Project (STEAM Club)', hosted by the Ministry of Education and organized by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity. Three teams received the Minister of Education Award, and three teams received the President of the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity Award.
The Convergence Research Project (STEAM Club) is the nation’s premier science inquiry competition for high school students, designed to foster students’ convergent inquiry skills and strengthen their competencies for STEM careers.
Out of 139 teams nationwide, 23 teams from Daejeon participated in the competition. Based on the results of club activities conducted from March to November, a total of 17 outstanding teams were selected.
The Daejeon region achieved remarkable results in the field of convergence research activities, winning three out of the seven Minister of Education Awards and three out of the ten President of the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity Awards, ranking highest among the 17 metropolitan and provincial regions.
In particular, the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education has continuously provided a variety of customized programs, such as workshops and consulting support, to ensure that inquiry-based activities linked to advanced science and technology fields can be stably implemented, thereby enhancing students’ creativity and problem-solving skills.
The teams that received the Minister of Education Award were: ▲ 'Hamkke Green Lab' from Daedeok High School (supervising teacher: Oh Sinyeong), ▲ 'INOLAB' from Daedeok High School (supervising teacher: Lee Eunji), and ▲ 'Explorer' from Daejeon Daeshin High School (supervising teacher: Ha Jinsu). The teams that received the President of the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity Award were: ▲ 'SPACE Lab' from Namdaejeon High School (supervising teacher: Ryu Jaehwan), ▲ 'Indust' from Daejeon Gao High School (supervising teacher: Byun Seonyeong), and ▲ 'Infinite Imagination' from Daejeon Science High School (supervising teacher: Kang Seoktae).
Kim Youngjin, Director of Science and Career Information at the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "The passion and effort of the students, along with the dedicated guidance of the teachers, have led to outstanding achievements, which is very meaningful. We will continue to build a sustainable convergence education ecosystem so that students can freely research and take on challenges in schools."
