Samcheok City Receives Prime Minister's Commendation for Carbon Neutrality Excellence

Recognized as a "Model Case for Local Governments"

Samcheok City in Gangwon Province was honored with the Prime Minister's Commendation for Carbon Neutrality from the Presidential Committee on Carbon Neutral and Green Growth (Chairman: Prime Minister Kim Minseok) at the Novotel Ambassador Hotel in Seoul on the 23rd.

This recognition is the result of Samcheok City's systematic implementation of carbon neutrality policies, the establishment of a collaborative governance system involving local governments, businesses, and citizens, and the widespread promotion of carbon reduction practices in daily life-all of which were highly evaluated.

In particular, based on the Basic Plan for Carbon Neutral and Green Growth, the city has been steadily implementing effective policies tailored to local conditions, making it a model case for carbon neutrality at the municipal government level.

A city official stated, "This Prime Minister's Commendation is not only the result of administrative efforts, but also the collective achievement of citizens, the local community, and businesses," adding, "We will continue to play a responsible role in realizing carbon neutrality and achieving sustainable regional development."

Meanwhile, the Presidential Committee on Carbon Neutral and Green Growth serves as the control tower for national carbon neutrality policies and annually selects and awards organizations and institutions that have contributed to achieving carbon neutrality.
