The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education achieved a Grade 2 in the overall integrity assessment, including a Grade 1 in the category of integrity efforts, in this year's evaluation by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
This year, the office implemented a range of field-oriented integrity policies in cooperation with the educational community, focusing on building institutional infrastructure, encouraging leadership by senior officials, and improving areas vulnerable to corruption to promote a culture of integrity.
In particular, the office received a perfect score in 8 out of 9 evaluation areas in the integrity effort category, which assesses the policy implementation system and achievements, thereby earning a Grade 1 rating.
Previously, the office launched the integrity slogan, "Gyeonggi Education Moving Toward the Future of 2025 Begins with Today's Integrity," and undertook intensive improvements in corruption-prone areas this year. Key initiatives included: enacting an integrated ordinance on power abuse and workplace bullying; establishing an integrity ordinance as the foundation for an anti-corruption system; creating a new position for an integrity specialist; operating the "Power Abuse Thermometer" to measure the abuse index across all institutions; identifying and rectifying outdated and unreasonable practices in the field; running integrity communication activities under the "Talk for Understanding" program; and appointing the "Gyeonggi Education Integrity Signal Support Group."
Lim Taehee, Superintendent of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated, "Achieving Grade 1 in integrity efforts is a meaningful result that reflects the commitment of the entire Gyeonggi education community to practicing the value of integrity in the field. From now on, we will guard against the 'hubris syndrome' that can cloud judgment after success, and pursue integrity policies that listen even more closely to voices from the field."
