More than 200 people attended the event, including Mayor Bang Se-hwan, local dignitaries, sponsors, and citizens, coming together to share the values of giving and solidarity.
The "Gwangju Love Connection Campaign," organized by the Gwangju Branch of the Gyeonggi-do Welfare Association for the Physically Disabled, is a leading sharing initiative. Its purpose is to identify students in need of various forms of support, including those with disabilities, and connect them with mentors to provide emotional and social support.
Now in its 14th year, this event was held at the end of the year to reflect on the meaning of the "Love Connection" that links neighbors and to share the value of companionship, where mentors and mentees support each other.
Moon Jongseok, head of the Gwangju Branch, said, "The Love Connection Campaign is a meaningful platform that delivers hope and courage to students," and added, "We will continue our efforts so that more students and mentors can build connections based on trust and love."

Mayor Bang Se-hwan stated, "I hope that the relationships formed through the mentor-mentee program will become strong sources of encouragement for students and lead to meaningful companionship for everyone involved." He continued, "Gwangju City will continue to provide support so that students can grow at their own pace and pursue their dreams, focusing on the Welfare Center for the Disabled, Bandabi Sports Center, and Lifelong Learning Center for the Disabled, all scheduled to open next year."
