At approximately 9:58 p.m. on December 22, a fire broke out on the second floor of a two-story detached house in Sanho-dong, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province.
As a result of the fire, a man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, sustained burns to his face and both arms and was transported to the hospital, but ultimately passed away. Another man in his 60s suffered serious injuries from smoke inhalation and is currently receiving treatment.
The fire damaged about 15 square meters of the second floor, as well as household items such as a bed and a television, resulting in an estimated property loss of 800,000 won according to the fire department.
After receiving a report from a resident about smoke coming from the house, the fire authorities dispatched 34 personnel and 14 pieces of equipment, extinguishing the blaze completely by around 10:17 p.m. that day.
The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
