Kim Sohyun, a member of the Gyeongju City Council, received the Excellence Award at the "2025 Local Autonomy Evaluation Legislative and Policy Awards" ceremony held in the main conference hall of the National Assembly Members' Office Building on December 19, 2025.
This marks her second consecutive year receiving an award, following last year's Grand Prize.
This prestigious award, organized by the Yeouido Policy Research Institute, comprehensively evaluates metropolitan and basic council members across the country for their achievements in revitalizing local autonomy, improving residents' quality of life, and contributing to regional development.
Despite being a first-term council member, Assemblywoman Kim has devoted herself to legislative efforts that strengthen the local economic foundation by sponsoring key ordinance bills, including the Gyeongju Nuclear Industry Promotion and Support Ordinance, the Companion Plant Industry Promotion Ordinance, and amendments to the Ordinance on Promoting Corporate and Investment Attraction.
In particular, her continuous efforts to enhance the effectiveness of policies-such as proposing the establishment of a "Gyeongju-style Nuclear Ecosystem" during a five-minute free speech session-were highly praised.
She has also been dedicated to improving residents' welfare by resolving inconveniences on-site through direct communication with the community.
Assemblywoman Kim Sohyun stated, "It is an honor to receive this valuable award for two consecutive years," adding, "I will remain true to my original intentions, listen closely to the voices of citizens, and do my utmost for the development of Gyeongju and the happiness of its people."
