Buan County in North Jeolla Province was selected as the top performer in the 2025 second-half evaluation of local tax collection among cities and counties, securing 14 million won in special adjustment grants.
According to the county on the 23rd, the evaluation, organized by North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province, assessed 14 cities and counties in the province. It comprehensively reviewed various indicators, including local tax collection rates and the performance of key work initiatives, from June to the end of last month, to select outstanding local governments.
The county achieved high marks across all evaluation categories, earning the top distinction. This result follows its grand prize in the first-half evaluation and demonstrates its continued excellence in tax collection performance.
After receiving the award in the first half of the year, the county systematically strengthened its efforts to address local tax delinquencies and enhance collection activities. In the second half, it implemented a dedicated reinforcement team, conducted intensive clean-up periods, and operated special collection teams to adopt a field-oriented approach to tax collection.
In particular, the county focused on improving collection performance and resolving delinquent taxes through proactive measures, such as increasing the seizure of various assets including deposits, bonds, and escrowed funds. These efforts are seen as evidence that the county's local tax collection capabilities are steadily improving.
A county official stated, "This achievement is the result of the efforts of residents who faithfully paid their local taxes and employees who did their utmost in the field," adding, "We will continue to do our best to expand sound local finances through even more creative and intensive collection activities."
