The special investigation team at the National Police Agency called in Mr. Cho, who previously served as the chief secretary of the Unification Church World Headquarters, as a reference witness at 9 a.m. on this day.
The police are expected to question Mr. Cho intensively about how the funds used for lobbying political circles were raised and executed, and whether there was any involvement from the higher-ups, including President Han Hakja.
While serving as chief secretary, Mr. Cho was the direct supervisor of Mr. Lee, the director of finance at the secretariat, and managed the inflow and outflow of funds.
Mr. Lee is the wife of former World Headquarters Director Yoon Youngho, who is at the center of the lobbying allegations. It is known that the police summoned and questioned Mr. Lee the previous day.
