The police launched an investigation on December 23 after a threatening post claiming that explosives had been planted at the Blue House, the Yongsan Presidential Office, and the presidential residence was uploaded online.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, a report was received at approximately 7:10 p.m. the previous day that a post titled "Explosives have been installed at the Presidential Office of the Republic of Korea" had been uploaded to a gallery on the online community DC Inside.
The post specified the detonation time as exactly 6:00 p.m. on December 23, and listed the Blue House, the Yongsan Presidential Office, the presidential residence, as well as an apartment and commercial building in Bundang, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, as the target locations. It also included a threat to harm Hyunji Kim, Chief of the First Secretariat at the Presidential Office.
The post has since been deleted, and the police are tracking down the author based on the IP address and other information.
