Busan Port Authority and Hutchison Korea Terminal Expand Social Contribution Beyond the Port to the Local Community

Annual Donation of 10 Million Won to BPA Hope Pantry
Pledge of Continued Human and Material Support

This time, warmth was exchanged at Busan Port, where containers are constantly moving in and out.

On December 22, Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sanggeun) signed a social contribution cooperation agreement with Hutchison Korea Terminal at the BPA headquarters.

With this agreement, Hutchison Korea Terminal plans to provide regular annual donations totaling 10 million won to BPA Hope Pantry Branch No. 9 (Yongho Community Welfare Center) and Branch No. 13 (Nam-gu Community Welfare Center), both located in Nam-gu, where the company’s business site is based.

In addition, Hutchison Korea Terminal pledged to support BPA Hope Pantry and other community contribution activities led by Busan Port Authority through both human and material resources.

BPA Hope Pantry is a community-sharing refrigerator project operated as a platform for sharing in the local community, through collaboration between Busan Port Authority and 16 operating organizations in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions.

Launched in 2023, BPA Hope Pantry has continued to receive both large and small donations and sponsorships, ranging from side dish donations by individuals to contributions from local small businesses and corporations. In 2025 alone, it is expected to help more than 20,000 residents, establishing itself as a leading, resident-friendly social contribution project.

Since the days of operating the Jaseongdae Terminal, Hutchison Korea Terminal has steadily carried out ESG activities for the local community, such as providing scholarships, volunteering for home repairs, and donating rice. After relocating to the new Singamman Terminal in January 2025, the company has focused for one year on stabilizing terminal operations. With this agreement, Hutchison Korea Terminal aims to strengthen its ties with the local community, establish a regular sponsorship system, and systematize its fulfillment of social responsibility.

Shin Dongah, CEO of Hutchison Korea Terminal, stated, "We are preparing a multifaceted model of mutual growth, including collaboration with Nam-gu District Office and support for local events, going beyond simple one-time donations. As a port company, we will become a model case of ESG management that grows together with the local community," promising to continue this warm partnership.

Song Sanggeun, President of Busan Port Authority, commented, "Community contribution is becoming a value that should be practiced not just by a single company, but by all members of the port industry. I hope that Hutchison Korea Terminal’s sponsorship of BPA Hope Pantry will help spread the spirit of sharing throughout Busan Port."
