Honored at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Outstanding Public Property Local Government Awards Ceremony
On December 22, Sokcho City in Gangwon Province was selected as the 'Best' local government at the '2025 Outstanding Public Property Local Government Awards Ceremony' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, held at the Government Seoul Office.

This evaluation was conducted for all 243 local governments nationwide. The purpose was to systematically analyze the planning, management, and utilization status of public property in order to expand local fiscal revenue and promote efficient property management.
The evaluation was carried out based on 12 detailed indicators to assess the appropriateness of public property management plans; the adequacy of public property management, including the maintenance of registers, registration, computerized systems, and the imposition and collection of rental fees and penalties; timely operation of the Public Property Deliberation Committee; and efforts to increase property management revenue, among others, to measure the efficiency of public property utilization.
Sokcho City was the only city-level local government in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province to receive the 'Best' designation. As a result of this selection, the city secured a special grant tax of 40 million won.
An official from Sokcho City stated, "We will continue to systematically manage public property to contribute to regional development and strengthen fiscal soundness."
