Chosun University announced on December 22 that it recently held a "Glocal University Participating Departments Public Hearing" to share the progress of the first year of the Glocal University project and discuss the direction of educational innovation, focusing on the establishment of three specialized universities in the future.
At the public hearing held on December 18 at Ipseok Hall on campus, Chosun University presented the vision and implementation strategy for the Glocal University, with a particular emphasis on specialization in well-aging to address the challenges of an aging society. The university announced plans to strengthen the foundation for interdepartmental collaboration through support for interdisciplinary majors at the departmental level, as well as to enhance the stability of major operations and improve educational outcomes.
The public hearing also addressed the implementation direction for establishing specialized universities and stabilizing the operation of non-major and non-departmental systems. The university plans to reinforce a stable project management system by promoting the design of modular interdisciplinary majors, deploying dedicated staff to guide students in major selection and career exploration, and establishing a Glocal Communication Committee to build a regular communication system.
In addition, the university shared its plan to establish the Glocal Institute for Educational Innovation and announced its intention to promptly develop an educational innovation roadmap that reflects the characteristics and circumstances of each department, centered on this new institute.
During the event, participating departments shared a variety of opinions on topics such as improving the operation of non-major and non-departmental systems, concrete directions for educational innovation, and the need to reorganize the department-centered educational system. The university plans to actively incorporate these suggestions into future project operations.
Kim Seonjung, Head of the Glocal 30 Project Headquarters, stated, "The Glocal University is not a project led solely by the university headquarters, but a collaborative innovation project created together by departments and members of the university. We will continue to reflect voices from the field, establish a support system that departments can truly experience, and complete a competitive Glocal University model unique to Chosun University."
