Gangwon Province Holds Joint Meeting
on Key Strategic and Corporate Regulatory Improvements

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province held a joint meeting on December 22 at Sol Beach Yangyang, attended by more than 60 officials in charge of regulations from 18 cities and counties within the province, to discuss key strategies and improvements in corporate regulations.

This meeting was organized to share the 2025 key strategic regulations and achievements in corporate regulatory improvement among the 18 cities and counties, and to explore directions for regulatory reform in 2026.


In particular, the meeting included sharing an understanding of the regulatory sandbox and specific case studies of its application, and conducting policy research together with the Gangwon Research Institute and the Korea Climate Change Research Institute.


There were also presentations of outstanding regulatory innovation cases from the cities and counties, such as improvements in temporary building permit procedures and the easing of criteria for designating alley-type shopping districts, followed by in-depth discussions on suggestions related to regulatory improvements.


Kwak Ilgyu, Director of the Special Self-Governing Bureau, stated, "This was a meaningful opportunity to listen to and discuss the voices of the cities and counties for the improvement of Gangwon Province’s key strategic and corporate regulations." He added, "We will incorporate the suggestions made today to promote regulatory improvements in 2026, and will continue to work with the cities and counties to steadily remove regulations that hinder innovative growth within the province."
