Gwangju City Selected as Excellent Institution in Total Pollution Load Management at Han River Basin Management Fund Performance Evaluation

Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 22nd that it has been selected as an excellent institution in the Total Pollution Load Management Project category at the "2024 Fiscal Year Han River Basin Management Fund Performance Evaluation" hosted by the Han River Basin Environmental Office.

This performance evaluation was conducted to enhance the transparency of the Han River Basin Management Fund operations and to strengthen the efficiency of project implementation. From May to November 2025, a total of 52 management offices and 7 projects were evaluated. Gwangju City achieved the distinction of being selected as an excellent institution for the third consecutive time in this evaluation.


The evaluation comprehensively analyzed the appropriateness of project management, achievement of objectives, and excellence of outcomes for fund projects aimed at improving water quality in the Han River basin and ensuring sustainable water resource management. Gwangju City received high marks for its systematic management and diligent execution across all aspects of the project.


Gwangju City has continuously implemented pollution load management policies tailored to local conditions and has worked to preserve the water quality of the Han River through close cooperation with related organizations and field-oriented management and inspections. In particular, the city received high scores in this evaluation for its responsible administration throughout the entire process, from planning and project implementation to performance management.


A city official stated, "This award is the result of systematically and consistently implementing the Total Pollution Load Management Project," and added, "We will continue to further strengthen related projects to preserve the water quality of the Han River basin and promote sustainable environmental management."


Meanwhile, Gwangju City plans to actively reflect the results of this performance evaluation in the future operation of the Han River Basin Management Fund projects and environmental policies, continuously enhancing the transparency and efficiency of its initiatives.
