With this designation, the Association is now authorized, based on the Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety, to provide specialized training for those engaged in disaster and safety management work. Starting in 2026, the Association plans to support the enhancement of members' disaster management capabilities through the operation of these training programs.
In particular, the Association plans to offer these training programs free of charge to its members. It will conduct both in-person group training at the Local Finance Hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul, which offers excellent public transportation access, and on-site training sessions by visiting local governments, aiming to increase member satisfaction.
Additionally, leveraging its long-standing expertise accumulated through operating mutual aid programs, the Association is preparing to offer practical disaster management courses that are highly effective and applicable in real disaster situations.
Chairman Jung Sunyong stated, "Disaster management education is the starting point for protecting local communities and residents' safety, and our Association will take part in this process to fulfill our social responsibility."
The Association, established in 1964 to support sound fiscal management and the development of local finance for local governments, is the only public interest corporation in Korea composed of 243 local governments nationwide, as well as local public corporations, public enterprises, and affiliated organizations as its members.
For the past 60 years, the Association has operated a variety of member support programs in various fields to promote mutual growth with its members and fulfill its role as a public interest corporation. Based on the mutual aid philosophy, the local finance support program, which has been in operation since 1983, plays a pivotal role as a major source of local bond financing for local governments. Since 2019, the Association has also contributed to balanced growth and revitalization of local economies through consulting services for community enterprises.
Taking a step further, in July, Chairman Jung Sunyong established the Member Support Division to strengthen customized support based on on-site communication, and is actively expanding support programs to enhance member satisfaction.
