Goryeong County Selected as Outstanding Local Government for Issuing Local Love Gift Certificates

Secured 250 Million Won in Special Grant Tax Through Ministry Evaluation

Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province (Governor Lee Namcheol) has been selected by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as an outstanding local government for issuing local love gift certificates, securing a special grant tax of 250 million won.

This selection was the result of a comprehensive evaluation of the county’s independent issuance efforts in the first half of the year, prior to national funding support, as well as its issuance performance following the second supplementary government budget.

Goryeong County has been continuously issuing local love gift certificates by actively allocating county funds to revitalize the local economy even before national funding was fully implemented. The stable operation of discount events was also highly regarded for promoting local consumption and increasing sales for small business owners.

Despite challenging financial conditions, Goryeong County was recognized as an exemplary case for proactively continuing to issue gift certificates to protect local businesses and boost domestic demand, thereby delivering tangible benefits to county residents.

The special grant tax secured this time will be used for projects aimed at revitalizing the local economy and stabilizing the lives of residents. It is planned to be invested in a variety of policies to help recover the stagnant local economy.

An official from Goryeong County stated, "The Goryeong Love Gift Certificate is a representative win-win policy that provides discounts to residents, increases sales for small business owners, and injects economic vitality into the region. In 2026, we will further expand the issuance of the Goryeong Love Gift Certificate and actively develop and implement various initiatives to revitalize the local economy."
