1,323 Students to Be Admitted Through Regular Admissions... Expanded Enrollment Quotas
Nurturing Talent for the Fourth Industrial Revolution... New Relevant Departments Established
Dongguk University will admit 1,323 students through the regular admissions process this year, accounting for 40.1% of the total number of students to be recruited.
There are three major changes in the 2026 regular admissions compared to the previous year. First, with the designation of advanced fields, new departments have been established and enrollment quotas have been expanded. To foster talent in advanced fields leading the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the College of Advanced Convergence has established the Department of Medical Artificial Intelligence Engineering with a quota of 38 students and the Department of Intelligent Network Convergence with a quota of 23 students. This year, 18 and 11 students will be admitted to these departments, respectively, in the Group C regular admissions.
The Department of Bioenvironmental Science in the College of Biosystems, which has increased its total enrollment quota by 16, has been renamed the Department of Convergence Environmental Science and will admit 22 students in Group A regular admissions. The Department of Energy and New Materials Engineering in the College of Engineering, which has increased its total enrollment quota by 32, will admit 30 students in Group A regular admissions.
Second, the scope of broad-based recruitment units has been expanded. The newly established broad-based recruitment unit is the College of Business, where, starting this year, the Department of Business Administration, Department of Accounting, and Department of Management Information Systems will recruit students as a single unit in Group C. It is noteworthy that all non-major recruitment units, including the College of Business newly added to the broad-based system, the Open Major Program (Humanities and Natural Sciences) introduced last year, and the College of Biosystems, will select students in the Group C general track based solely on 100% of the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) scores.
Third, disciplinary actions related to school violence will be reflected in each admissions track. For the general, rural students, specialized high school graduates, and basic livelihood and lower-income group tracks, points will be deducted from the final converted score (out of 1,000 points) according to the severity of the disciplinary action. Specifically, actions 1 to 3 result in no deduction, action 4 results in a 100-point deduction, action 5 a 200-point deduction, action 6 a 300-point deduction, action 7 a 400-point deduction, and actions 8 or 9 result in disqualification (excluded from consideration). Each measure is subject to a quantitative deduction.
For the admissions track for "working graduates of specialized high schools," which involves a comprehensive document review, applicants must submit information on school violence disciplinary actions (including whether disciplinary action was taken) and related explanations at the time of application. These will be qualitatively evaluated during the comprehensive document review.
Applicants to Dongguk University's regular admissions this year should consider these changes and check the previous year's admissions results and recruitment guidelines on the admissions website. In particular, referring to the major guidebook along with the previous year's results is expected to be very helpful in selecting a recruitment unit.
Jongbae Park, Dean of Admissions at Dongguk University, said, "To minimize the burden on applicants, the general admissions process continues to rely 100% on CSAT scores," adding, "From this year, the newly established Department of Medical Artificial Intelligence Engineering and Department of Intelligent Network Convergence in the College of Advanced Convergence will be recruiting new students in Group C, so applicants interested in the College of Advanced Convergence should consider these options."
