[Weather] Temperatures Drop by Over 10 Degrees... Nationwide Rain Starting Tomorrow

December 22, which marks the winter solstice-the longest night of the year-and falls on a Monday in 2025, is expected to be cold nationwide as temperatures drop.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, morning temperatures in some inland areas of Gyeongsang Province, where a cold wave advisory is in effect, will be more than 10 degrees Celsius lower than the previous day. Other parts of the southern region will also see temperatures fall by more than 5 degrees Celsius.


As of 5 a.m., the current temperatures in major cities are as follows: Seoul -5.1°C, Incheon -5.3°C, Suwon -6.7°C, Chuncheon -8.5°C, Gangneung -1.5°C, Cheongju -4.4°C, Daejeon -5.6°C, Jeonju -5.2°C, Gwangju -3.2°C, Jeju 2.2°C, Daegu -4.6°C, Busan 0.2°C, Ulsan -1.4°C, and Changwon 0°C. Daytime highs are forecast to range from 3°C to 12°C.


Fine dust levels are expected to remain "good" to "moderate" across all regions, thanks to favorable atmospheric dispersion.


Starting in the afternoon of December 23, rain is forecast to begin nationwide and continue through December 24.


Wave heights in coastal waters are expected to reach 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the East Sea, and 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the West Sea and South Sea. In offshore areas up to about 200 kilometers from the coastline, wave heights will range from 1.0 to 3.5 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 3.5 meters in the South Sea.
