Gyeonggi Province will offer donors discounts on admission to major tourist attractions such as Everland and the Korean Folk Village in order to expand participation in the Hometown Love Donation Program and revitalize the local economy.
The Hometown Love Donation Program allows individuals to donate to local governments other than their place of residence and receive a tax deduction (full deduction for donations up to 100,000 won, and 16.5% for amounts exceeding 100,000 won) as well as return gifts worth up to 30% of the donation.
To encourage participation and attract tourism spending to the region, Gyeonggi Province has developed the exclusive "Hometown Love Ssolssol Package," which offers additional benefits on top of tax deductions and return gifts.
Accordingly, those who donate 100,000 won or more to any of the 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province will receive discounts on admission or usage fees at five major tourist attractions in the province for one year from the date of donation. The discounts are applied in the same manner as local and resident discounts at each facility, and at some attractions, one accompanying person in addition to the donor may also receive the benefit.
The participating attractions are: ▲Seohaerang Jebudo Marine Cable Car ▲Gimpo Aegibong Peace Ecological Park ▲Everland ▲Paju Imjingak Peace Gondola ▲Korean Folk Village. The selection focuses on facilities with high visitor demand to maximize the perceived benefits for donors.
Donors can receive discounts by presenting their "Hometown Love Donation Benefit Certificate" and identification at the ticket counter of the tourist facility. The benefit certificate is issued and managed in connection with the Hometown Love e-eum system.
This tourism discount benefit is a follow-up measure to the agreement signed on December 8 by Gyeonggi Province, its 31 cities and counties, and five major tourist attractions to promote the Hometown Love Donation Program. The province aims to enhance donor recognition while linking tourism spending to the local area, thereby creating a virtuous cycle for the regional economy.
Cho Byungrae, Director General of Autonomous Administration at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We will continue to expand various linked benefits that increase donor participation and support the local economy."
