The city of Daejeon is launching a support project to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating Class 4 and 5 air emission facilities with the installation of Internet of Things (IoT) monitoring devices.

To improve air quality and ease regulatory burdens on small-scale businesses, the city plans to invest 670 million won, covering 60% of the installation costs for each facility.

IoT monitoring devices are systems that remotely verify the operational status of air emission and prevention facilities by integrating sensors such as current, temperature, and differential pressure gauges, along with communication functions. Installation of these devices became mandatory following the revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Clean Air Conservation Act in May 2022.

Eligible recipients are SMEs located in Daejeon that are operating Class 4 and 5 air emission facilities in accordance with the Clean Air Conservation Act. Priority support will be given to businesses required by law to install these devices by December 2026.

Applications for participation in the project will be accepted by the Daejeon City Air Environment Division from December 29 to January 23 of the following year. Detailed information on eligibility, procedures, and required documents can be found in the announcement posted on the Daejeon City website.

Moon Changyong, Director of the Daejeon City Environmental Bureau, stated, "Through this project, we expect to alleviate the financial burden on small-scale businesses while establishing a scientific and systematic foundation for air pollution management," and encouraged active participation from eligible businesses.
