Yongsan District Opens 'Dementia Wonhyo-ro Counseling Room' at Health Branch on the 22nd

Expanding Dementia Service Hubs in the Community to Two Locations

Yongsan District in Seoul (District Mayor Park Heeyoung) has established a new dementia counseling room, the 'Cognitive Health Room,' on the second floor of the Yongsan Health Branch (329 Baekbeom-ro) to strengthen early detection and preventive management of dementia in the community. Starting from the 22nd, the district will officially provide counseling and screening services.

This initiative aims to reinforce the community-based care system amid the increasing number of dementia patients, thereby easing the burden on families and improving accessibility for residents. Previously, dementia-related services required traveling to the Dementia Safety Center located on the second basement floor of the Yongsan District Administrative Town (150 Noksapyeong-daero).

With the establishment of the new dementia counseling room on Wonhyo-ro, elderly residents in the western areas such as Cheongpa-dong, Wonhyo-ro 1 and 2-dong, Hyochang-dong, and Yongmun-dong can now access dementia screening and counseling more conveniently.

The center will provide the core services of the Dementia Safety Center on a regular basis. Major services include early dementia screening, counseling and registration management, and support services for dementia patients. Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays (with a lunch break from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.), and residents can receive counseling by visiting with their ID without a prior reservation.

Park Heeyoung, Mayor of Yongsan District, stated, "Dementia is a condition where early detection and consistent management are of utmost importance. Through the operation of the new dementia counseling room on Wonhyo-ro, we will establish a comprehensive care system that covers diagnosis, counseling, and follow-up management, ensuring that residents can safely and conveniently access the services they need close to home."

Previously, the district completed the relocation and environmental improvement of the health branch building and held an opening ceremony on the 19th.
