Expanding Citizen-Oriented AI Services Through Collaboration

Public institutions in the industrial promotion sector have joined forces to spread the achievements of artificial intelligence transformation within the public sector.

According to the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) on December 21, a total of 15 public institutions in the industrial promotion field, including KOTRA, held a public AX achievement dissemination seminar at KOTRA’s headquarters in Seoul on December 19. This event was organized for the first time to review the current status of AI transformation initiatives among public institutions and to share each institution’s achievements. The goal was to improve the quality of public services and to find ways to spread these achievements through collaboration.

In the first session, the National Information Society Agency introduced its strategy for advancing AI transformation within the institution. The agency explained its approach as a three-stage virtuous cycle, moving from AI transformation to strategic execution and results, and presented an implementation system in which the head of the institution is designated as the Chief AX Officer, with all departments participating.

The Korea Communications Agency shared its cases of adopting AI, including an AI-based wireless station antenna information verification system, a qualification exam AI chatbot service, a real-time customer feedback monitoring system, and an AI-powered safe waiting room. KOTRA introduced its three main strategies for AI transformation to innovate trade and investment support systems, as well as its plan to launch an AI export assistant.

The participating institutions agreed to continue collaborating with the aim of innovating work using AI and expanding citizen-oriented services. They plan to hold regular exchange meetings and promote the dissemination of public AX achievements through data integration and sharing of know-how.

Kang Kyungsung, President of KOTRA, stated, "Through collaboration among public institutions, we will enhance the efficiency of introducing and spreading public AX, and ensure that efforts in the public sector lead to the creation of new business opportunities in the private sector."
